Whether we acknowledge it or not, we are always being prepared, supported, or trained to be alive.
These are complex systems we have the privilege of experiencing life in.
Yes, even if that experience sucks sometimes or all the times, our bodies are offering us the opportunity to experience.
My body (and I) have been on some wild adventures. From jumping off cliffs to diving from bridges hundreds of feet above a rocky ravine to hiking 8-10 miles a day for months with more than half my body weight on my back... to the other side of the spectrum.. being hospitalized after a major surgery to remove a cancerous tumor, to being essentially bed bound for months simply because there was excess energy to be expending other than what was necessary to survive. We have been through some wild ceremonies, traveled to lands deep and far, and settled into the subtleties of all of existence.
My body is a fucking powerhouse. Generally running so much energy through I'm humming inside myself. There was a season of my life I was experiencing a low grade full body orgasm full time. It was... Enlivening to say the least.
I trust when my body gives me signs. She's never steered me wrong. Sure, some of the pathways suck for my mind because I designed a different viewpoint and desire in my imagination for how that time and part of my life would go... but in the end, the wisdom my body embodies... guides me with... is beyond any I could think up.
It's when we learned to live in harmony, when I learned to trust the wisdom of The Body, that my world began to align with such clarity, such force of will and potency, that all that I was designing for myself, became my lived experience.
I mean, look at my life now... I'm in an amazing partnership, I'm living on the side of Hualalai on the Big Island in a house that is all windows and a bathtub to drool over.. on a 4 acre flower farm.. with work that lights me up, turns me on, and also is not demanding of my time. And, my body is experiencing a healthy pregnancy.
It's a trip to build another entire human by the way.
My body has been preparing me for this pregnancy for some time. I'd known it for months before we conceived. (Well, for years really... but the months before was like crunch time.) All of a sudden, I was eating only foods rich in folic acid (the one most important piece of prenatals for the development of the neural tube) which is most effective to have in your system at the very beginning of pregnancy - which I had through food as medicine (you're welcome tiny human in my womb. ( ; )
Our bodies prepare us or tend to timing for us all the time.
Like for us women, my cycles would shift by days here and there if I was going to be traveling or going to an event during my bleed time. (Thank you body - that was always super helpful).
So here's the key piece - when we're deeply in communion with our Bodies.. It's a two way street. The body doesn't run the show. Neither does our mind. It's a co-creation of this lived experience.
When we listen and honor the wisdom that we hear, we develop trust with these internal systems... effectively, with our self. And in living from this space, always, we too share and declare wisdom that the body listens to and honors.
You haven't bled for awhile and ready for your menses to come back? Yep - this is a factor.
You're wanting to become pregnant and finding it challenging to conceive? Yep - this can be tended to (common, I have just one ovary and an intense history...)
You're wanting to get stronger and feel like your body's inhibiting you in some way? This connection is one to be looked at.
I have spent so many years honing in on the body being connection. For myself first and foremost, and for clients to some awe inspiring degrees.
And the thing is... the well is endless. The wisdom is expansive. We could change our eye color if we chose, our mobility, fine tune the functioning of our internal systems..
So let's both take a moment here to tune in and listen. What's alive in the body now? Any needs? Desires? Messages? Ways that we can connect that innate embodied wisdom?
How can those messages be integrated into our day?
Here's a free one and generally collectively true - drink more water! Your body will thank you for it. Oh, and high quality water please... not this chlorinated straight from the tap or water bottle sitting in a hot car kind of noise. Take care of the body you have, yo - whether you want to acknowledge it or not... it's a key part of how you are able to experience this present lived experience.
I love you Body.Thank you for all you have done and carried.I'm sorry for all the times I haven't listened.Forgive me for I continue to do my best.I love you.
